VANCOUVER, British Columbia –
The fate of ex-used-car sales manager Alireza Zolnasr is now in the hands of British Columbia Supreme Court Justice Peter Willcock after Zolnasr was convicted of swindling nearly $260,000 from the Pacific Honda dealership that used to employ him, according to a report by North Shore News.
Sentencing for Zolnasr is scheduled for November, and prosecutors want him locked up for two years.
Apparently, there were 28 used cars included in the 10 fraudulent transactions over a 15-month span, all of which involved wholesaler transactions, according to the report.
Interestingly enough, the North Vancouver dealership learned of the scheme from a misled wholesaler.
Zolnasr’s antics included turning to bogus paperwork in the transactions, making sales to wholesalers without Pacific Honda ever receiving the money and listing cars he had sold as being still in stock.
Beyond his criminal trouble, Zolnasr could be in more hot water on the civil side, where the dealership has taken action as well.
