“Vaughan” has added a “Vaughn” to the family.
Boerne, Texas-based Vaughan Automotive, led by Shawn Vaughan, has acquired Tommie Vaughn Ford in the Houston area.
(To recap: Same state, but slightly different spellings of similar last names.)
The deal was announced by Kerrigan Advisors, who advised the Janke family, which was the seller in the transaction.
Tommie Vaughn founded the dealership in 1957. After he passed away in 2005, his daughter, Jeanie Vaughn Janke and her husband, Jim Janke, became owners of the Ford store.
“For nearly 70 years, our family has had the distinct privilege of serving the greater Houston community, a legacy my father-in-law began in 1957 and one our family was proud to carry forward to the next generation,” Jim Janke said in a news release.

“While a sale is bittersweet, we believe Vaughan Automotive was the ideal buyer and we are confident the business, including our employees and customers, will be in excellent hands after the sale,” Janke said.
He added: “We also want to thank the Kerrigan team, especially Erin Kerrigan and Chris Gempton, for the expert guidance they provided our family as we contemplated such an important decision. When we decided the time was right for a sale, Kerrigan was our first and only call. Their reputation in the industry and legacy of success in the state of Texas, particularly with selling top tier dealerships in prime markets, were all invaluable to us. Their keen knowledge of the buyer community and trends impacting buy/sells is unmatched in the industry and it was that knowledge that was key to the success of this transaction.”
Genesis opens 85th standalone store
Further west, Genesis announced the grand opening of a new standalone retail facility on the San Francisco Peninsula.
Genesis of San Bruno, owned and operated by the Cardinale Automotive Group, is one of now 85 standalone Genesis facilities in the U.S.
Cardinale also owns Genesis of Corona and Genesis of Mountain View, both of which are also in California.
“At Genesis, we treat everyone as our ‘Son-nim,’ or honored guests, and that philosophy comes to life throughout our network of standalone retail facilities,” Genesis Motor North America chief operating officer Tedros Mengiste said in a news release.
“As a key market for Genesis and home to a growing community of consumers who value design and innovation, Northern California plays an important role in our continued growth,” Mengiste said. “The opening of Genesis of San Bruno expands our presence in the region and brings our signature hospitality and ownership experience to more customers.”
Christian Pullara, Cardinale’s dealer principal, added: “Genesis of San Bruno represents an important addition to our growing Genesis portfolio and reflects our continued commitment to the Bay Area.
“This new standalone facility allows us to deliver the elevated experience and personalized service that Genesis customers expect. We’re proud to build on the success of Genesis of Corona and Genesis of Mountain View, and look forward to supporting the brand’s continued growth.”
The Genesis Inspiration Foundation presented a $25,000 grant to the Peninsula Girls Chorus to commemorate the new store, and Genesis Motor America donated $10,000 to San Bruno AYSO Region 249 via the automaker’s charitable initiative Genesis Gives.
Classic Chevy to open 181K-square-foot service center
Back to Texas for another launch, Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine said it will open a 181,000-square-foot service center with 121 service bays.
The dealership plans to move in by the end of the year and begin full service operations by February.
Classic Chevrolet will keep its current service facility open during the transition.
The new spot will have more than 50 indoor parking spaces dedicated to Chevrolet Corvettes and other high-end vehicles.
It will also feature a 24-car service drive, 10,000-square-foot lounge and 18,600-square-foot parts department.
“As the No. 1 Chevy dealer in the world, we keep growing to meet demand,” owner Tom Durant said in a news release.
“This state-of-the-art facility gets customers back on the road faster. Add indoor storage for the Corvettes and an unprecedented array of performance parts in the pro shop, and you have even more reasons to relax and enjoy the difference with us,” he said.
