McLEAN, Va. -

After releasing a report highlighting the used-vehicle price forecast for the end of this year and spring of 2013 on Wednesday, NADA Used Car Guide looked at more immediate trends in the market.

It said that wholesale prices for all the segments it tracks are expected to decrease this week, except for one highline segment.

NADA UCG anticipates the luxury utility segment  to buck the trend and see a slight uptick of 0.3 percent, or $75.

Also on the luxury side, the luxury car segment is expected to decline by 0.2 percent, or $50, staying relatively flat for the week.

On the other hand, the biggest decline is expected in the midsize van segment, where prices are expected to drop 2.6 percent, or $300.

Moreover, the large SUV segment will also see declines around 1.0 percent, or $225. The larger segments do not seem to be showing the effects of continually decreasing gas prices.

Per Energy Information Administration data released this week, the average price of regular grade gasoline (all formulations) fell from $3.69 to $3.57.

And prices for gas sippers continue to fall, as well. The compact car segment is expected to see a decline of 1.6 percent, or $150, while the large pickup and compact utility segments will see smaller drops around $75 and $25, respectively.

Lastly, NADA UCG noted both the midsize car and midsize utility segments are expected to decline, as well, each falling around $175 apiece.

Four- and two-week AuctionNet wholesale average prices are created by collecting all AuctionNet records for vehicles  up to five years of age for a specified period of time. Prices are then adjusted for changes in mileage and mix.

Current week prices are based on NADA's proprietary used-vehicle value model which includes assumptions for new-vehicle prices, used-vehicle supply, gasoline prices, and other economic factors.
