Record Sales Total Reached for Collector-Car Auction
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Gooding & Co. enjoyed a record-setting weekend at its Pebble Beach Auctions event held Aug. 14 and 15 in California.
Sales for collector cars reached more than $64.59 million, which marks the best-selling auction the company has had in Pebble Beach. The average price per car sold was $609,000.
Moreover, there were six world records set, including three vehicles that sold for more than $6 million.
These particular three — a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider, 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza and 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta SEFAC Hot Rod — also fetched the three highest prices among all vehicles sold at auction during the overall Pebble Beach Auto Week.

—The 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione sold for $7.26 million (world record for a LWB California Spider at auction).
—The 1933 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza sold for $6.71 million (world record for an Alfa Romeo at auction).
—The 961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta SEFAC Hot Rod sold for $6.105 million (world record for a SWB Berlinetta at auction).
—The 1956 Maserati 200SI sold for $2.64 million (world record for a 200SI at auction).
—The 1951 Ferrari 340 America Spider sold for $2.53 million (world record for a 340 America Spider at auction).
—The 1937 Jaguar SS100 sold for $1.045 million (world record for an SS100 at auction).
