TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota executives had some positive news to share on Wednesday regarding ongoing recalls for its various Toyota and Lexus models. To date, the automaker highlighted that more than 3 million remedies have been performed for three recent recalls.

The company gave an approximate breakdown of how it compiled that figure:

—1.6 million to address the potential for sticking accelerator pedals.

—1.5 million to address the potential for floor mat pedal entrapment.

—115,000 program updates to the anti-lock brake systems (ABS) in certain 2010 Toyota Prius and Lexus models.

Toyota went on to point out that more than 732,000 vehicles have received both the floor mat and sticking pedal modifications, bringing the total number of recalled vehicles that have been serviced in this fashion to approximately 2.4 million.

In more recall updates from the automaker, executives mentioned that to date, approximately 70 percent of the sticking pedal modifications have been completed on the 2.3 million vehicles that have been recalled. They calculated that's an average of more than 120,000 remedies performed per week.

Furthermore, approximately 27 percent of the floor-mat entrapment modifications have been completed on the 5.4 million vehicles that were recalled for this issue, according to Toyota. The OEM also indicated more than 75 percent of the ABS program updates have been performed on the 147,500 Prius and Lexus models that were recalled.

Steve St. Angelo, Toyota chief quality officer for North America, praised the franchise operations that have handled the massive amount of extra service work.

"Toyota and Lexus dealers continue to make significant progress in servicing customers' recalled vehicles as quickly and conveniently as possible, and we appreciate their extraordinary efforts," St. Angelo emphasized

"Over the past three months, Toyota has delivered on its commitment to listen to the voices of customers more intently and respond more swiftly and effectively to their needs," he continued. "Above all, we want to thank our customers for their patience as we implement the recall remedies, and we won't let them down."

Automaker Shuffles Executive Team

In other company news, Toyota Motor Sales USA announced several executive changes within its Toyota division, effective immediately.

The automaker first revealed that Bill Fay and Randy Pflughaupt will be switching roles.

The company appointed Fay as group vice president of Toyota marketing to be responsible for all Toyota brand marketing activities as well as a new product communications activity. Executives indicated that Fay will report to Bob Carter, group vice president and general manager of the Toyota division.

Meanwhile, Pflughaupt has been assigned to be group vice president of sales administration and oversee Toyota Logistics Services and TMS international operations. The automaker indicated Pflughaupt will report to Don Esmond, senior vice president of automotive operations.

Elsewhere, Toyota created a new position for Jim Colon, who was formerly vice president of Toyota division sales. Executives explained that Colon now will be vice president of Toyota product communications to create, gather and manage information and promotion initiatives for Toyota brand vehicles. They also want Colon to handle product and sales training for Toyota dealers.

Toyota said Colon will report to Fay.

Taking over Colon's previous position will be Jeff Bracken, formerly Los Angeles region general manager. Toyota indicated that Bracken will report to Carter.

The automaker shifted several other regional general managers as well. The executives in these new roles who now will report to Bracken include:

—Kevin Cour, general manager, Los Angeles region.

—Alec Hagey, general manager, New York region.

—Chris Schultz, general manager, Denver region.
