Another former Tesla executive has joined the leadership team at Plug.

The company, which provides an online wholesale auction platform exclusively for electric vehicles, said Monday it has hired Lauren Van Dyke as its vice president of operations and partnerships.

Van Dyke was most recently head of business operations for North America at Tesla, leading a 200-person team that included responsibilities for B2B and fleet sales, corporate partnerships and the automaker’s used-car business.

Her experience includes leadership posts in EV remarketing, energy, and business operations.

“Lauren’s track record at Tesla, leading remarketing, fleet sales and partnerships, gives her an exceptional understanding of the used EV landscape,” Plug founder and CEO Jimmy Douglas said in a news release.

“Her insight and leadership are instrumental as we expand Trade Desk and deepen relationships with dealers, fleet operators and strategic partners,” said Douglas, a former Tesla executive himself.

Van Dyke added: “As trade-ins and lease returns bring a surge of used EVs to market, dealers need the right tools and partners to adapt. Plug is building the infrastructure the auto retail industry needs to navigate this transition, and I look forward to collaborating with our partners to expand Plug’s reach and accelerate adoption.”

Plug announced last month it had secured $6.7 million in seed funding and launched an EV-focused trade-in solution for dealers.

That platform, called Trade Desk, aims to price EVs quickly and accurately through Plug’s proprietary technology, VINs and distinct criteria in EVs, like batteries, software-enabled features, destination charging networks and tax credits.

Plug was launched in early 2024 and has facilitated more than $18 million in used EV sales. It serves more than 400 franchised dealers, independent dealers and commercial consignors.

Plug has also dipped its toes into working with brick-and-mortar auto auctions. More details on that pilot program can be found here.
