Let the cybersecurity war games begin.

Two companies involved in battling online attacks — automotive cybersecurity software and services provider VicOne, and cybersecurity engineering firm Block Harbor — announced they have created the Global Vehicle Cybersecurity Competition.

During the event, set for Aug. 22-25 and Aug. 29-Sept. 1, participants will compete head-to-head in a Capture the Flag-style competition in both offense and defense scenarios that mimic real-world attacks and countermeasures on modern connected vehicles and software-defined vehicles.

VicOne said the overall Global VCC winner will be sponsored to attend Pwn2Own Automotive 2026, the world’s largest zero-day vulnerability discovery contest focused on connected cars and SDVs. That event is scheduled for Jan. 21-23 at Automotive World in Tokyo.

The companies said the VCC is open to individuals of all skill levels, from first-time players to seasoned professionals pursuing careers in automotive cybersecurity, to help them learn, upskill and contribute to building a safer future for connected vehicles and SDVs.

Participants can sharpen their skills and learn alongside a community of security enthusiasts, students and professionals, while earning continuing professional education credits and competing for cash, tokens, titles and a round-trip flight and three-night hotel stay for Pwn2Own Automotive 2026.
