Hertz Car Sales announced Thursday that it has expanded its Hertz Rent2Buy program to more than 100 cities across the U.S.

The program is designed to provide consumers with “an extended test drive” on used vehicles from Hertz, with the “try before you buy” approach.

The consumer can browse a selection of used vehicles online, including newly added 2025 model-year vehicles, and reserve it online. The Rent2Buy vehicles are still part of Hertz’s active fleet.

They have the option to either take the vehicle for a free two-hour test drive or rent the vehicle for up to three days at a special low rate. If they decide to buy the vehicle, Hertz waives the rental charges.

In certain states, the shopper can buy from home.

Rent2Buy vehicles include a 12-month/12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, 24-hour roadside assistance, travel breakdown protection and a seven-day/250-mile buy-back guarantee.

“Buying a car is one of life’s biggest decisions, and we believe customers deserve more than a spin around the block to make it,” said Jeff Adams, executive vice president of Hertz Car Sales, in a news release.

“Rent2Buy reflects how we’re rethinking every part of the customer experience at Hertz: giving people the time, tools, and transparency to feel confident in their choices,” Adams said. “Whether it’s testing how a car fits into your daily life or simply making sure it feels right, Rent2Buy puts the power back in the customer’s hands, with no pressure and no surprises.”
