The provider of digital marketplaces for wholesale used vehicles has launched Audio Boost AI, a new tool on its U.S. platform designed to improve dealers’ confidence and speed in evaluating vehicles.
The feature, which is embedded into condition reports for every dealer-consigned vehicle, pairs engine audio recordings with artificial intelligence-generated highlights flagging potential issues and sample recordings of a comparable “normal” engine for quick benchmarking.

OPENLANE said the tool builds on the experience and expertise of its inspectors with an AI model trained on OPENLANE’s database of more than 1.2 million engine recordings.
When an inspector flags a potential issue, Audio Boost AI is designed to compare the recording against the database and visually highlight anomalies in the recording, alerting dealers making bidding and buying decisions with colored alert banners indicating whether a potential issue has been detected (green if no issues, yellow if issue reported) at the top of the engine analysis section of the condition report.
Sample recordings are provided for more than 95% of vehicles for which an upper or lower engine issue is detected, allowing dealers to compare the listed vehicle’s engine audio to benchmark engines.

Audio Boost AI is OPENLANE’s latest technology in its drive to help make wholesale easier and improve outcomes for buyers and sellers, joining Visual Boost AI and Code Boost IQ, launched in 2024.
