Healey Brothers Automotive Group engaged in some wishful thinking. As in, it was thinking about granting wishes.
The dealership group’s Driven to Give Foundation donated $30,000 to Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley to supporting the organization’s mission to bring hope, strength and joy to children battling critical illnesses.
Healey Brothers, which operates 10 locations in New York’s Hudson Valley, said the contribution will help grant at least three wishes for local children.
Healey Brothers chief marketing officer Jay Healey said Make-A-Wish’s efforts “bring comfort, inspiration and meaningful moments to children and families facing serious medical challenges. The transformative experiences made possible through Make-A-Wish remind us of the incredible impact compassion and community can have.”
The money was raised through the Fourth Annual Driven to Give Foundation Golf Outing, held Oct. 3 at Osiris Country Club in Walden, N.Y. The outing is the foundation’s largest annual event and biggest fundraiser.
“We’re sincerely grateful to our generous sponsors, passionate golfers and the dedicated Healey team,” Healey said. “Together, they make this event not just a success, but a true celebration of giving across the Hudson Valley.”

Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley said local partnerships are vital its mission to fulfill five categories of wishes: “to go,” “to meet,” “to have,” “to be” and “to give.” The organization relies solely on community support and receives no government funding, with funds raised locally going to directly grant wishes for children in the community.
“We are profoundly thankful to Healey Brothers Automotive Group for selecting Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley as the beneficiary of this year’s annual golf event,” said Kristine Burton, the organization’s president and CEO. “The Healey Brothers team embodies a genuine spirit of generosity and community care that fuels hope for the more than 150 children across the Hudson Valley waiting for their wishes to come true.
“Every contribution made and every individual who joins this cause helps transform dreams into lasting memories for children and families navigating some of life’s toughest challenges. Together, we’re doing more than granting wishes. We’re shaping moments of magic and creating a brighter tomorrow.”
The Driven to Give Foundation is a permanently endowed fund established with the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan to award grants to a wide range of nonprofit organizations in the Hudson Valley, as well as scholarships to students pursuing automotive industry careers.
“All of us at Healey Brothers and the Driven to Give Foundation are delighted with the success of this year’s golf outing and even more grateful that the proceeds will help Make-A-Wish deliver life-changing experiences for children and families in our community,” executive general manager John Koerner said. “Our employees take great pride in giving back. Supporting such an extraordinary organization reflects our shared commitment to making a meaningful difference in the Hudson Valley.”
Kocourek expands from home market with acquisition in Appleton
Kocourek Automotive is venturing away from home for the first time.
The dealership group, which operates eight franchises at five locations in Wausau, Wisc., has acquired Kolosso Toyota in Appleton, some 100 miles southeast, from Bill and Barb Kolosso, according to Performance Brokerage Services, which advised the seller in the transaction.
The new acquisition is also Kocourek’s first Toyota store.
The company’s founder and president, Keith Kocourek, began his automotive career washing cars at a dealership during high school before earning a degree in automotive management from Northwood University. In 1995 he became a partner in Jim Carter Chevrolet and took over ownership of what is now Kocourek Chevrolet in 2000.
Kocourek Automotive has since established the Kocourek Kids Foundation to support organizations and initiatives that make a difference in young lives.
Kolosso Toyota was established in 1977, when the Kolosso family acquired the Toyota franchise. The dealership moved to its current location in 1980 and has since been expanded several times.
Bill and Barb Kolosso grew up in a family whose automotive roots go back to 1929, when their grandfather, Robert Kolosso, opened a family auto body and repair shop. Their father, Bob Kolosso Jr., opened Kolosso Auto Sales in 1949.
Kolosso Toyota has received recognition for customer service, sales and excellence from industry organizations and has been active in the local community, serving as a vehicle donation center for Rawhide Youth Services, supporting at-risk youth and contributing to Harbor House, a local domestic abuse shelter.
