Autonomy, the Scott Painter-led electric vehicle subscription company, has secured $25 million in financing to expand its fleet by about 1,250 vehicles.
The move extends Autonomy’s fleet, which previously only included Tesla, to new brands, along with adding late-model used and off-lease certified pre-owned vehicles into its offering.
Autonomy is adding Volvo and Polestar vehicles to the fleet, along with additional models from Tesla. Among the additions are the Polestar 2, Tesla Model 3 Highland and Tesla Model Y Juniper, plus to-be-determined models from Volvo.
Autonomy said it is adding the recent model-year vehicles and off-lease CPO vehicles as part of its efforts to provide EV subscriptions at different price points.
“Autonomy’s goal is to make getting a car as easy as streaming a movie and to do it on the customer’s terms,” said Painter, the company’s founder and CEO, in a news release. “By introducing additional brands, as well as recent model-year and off-lease vehicles, we are expanding access to mobility for a wider range of customers.”
The fleet expansion was arranged by Finacity Corporation via a $25 million loan from SR Alternative Credit. Autonomy is using the financing to acquire vehicle and scale its fleet.

The additional vehicles will be available throughout Autonomy’s U.S. markets, which include California, Texas, Florida, Washington, Arizona, North Carolina and New York.
The Autonomy app is available on iOS and Android, where consumers can select a vehicle, subscribe and pay by credit card.
The company partners with the dealers for delivery. Autonomy is teaming up with the Galpin Motors dealer group to roll out the Polestar addition in the Los Angeles market. As part of that, Autonomy and Galpin have partnered with Deloitte to build a “tailored technology solution that enhances the customer experience with a fully digital, seamless, and customer-centric process journey.”
Autonomy co-founder and chairman Georg Bauer said, “At Autonomy, we put the customer front and center, creating a magical journey toward truly affordable mobility. Our collaboration with Deloitte unites bold innovation with world-class execution — a rare and powerful combination that accelerates our mission to redefine mobility.”
