ORLANDO, Fla. –
Tragedy struck this weekend when a part-time employee of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers was killed Sunday during a forklift accident at the company’s Orlando heavy-equipment auction site.
Ritchie Bros. released a statement Sunday confirming the accident and fatality, while also offering condolences to the family of the deceased and fellow employees. The accident happened while light towers were being arranged, the company noted.
“The incident has been reported to the relevant authorities and the company is working to help with all investigations into this matter,” officials said.
“Ritchie Bros. has contacted the family of the deceased and conveys its deepest condolences to the family and the employees at its site,” they added. “The company is providing support to the bereaved and those affected employees at its Orlando office and yard.”
Additionally, Ritchie Bros. said it is conducting a separate investigation on its own so it can figure out what exactly happened.
