TORRANCE, Calif. -

Acura has announced a voluntary recall of 52,615 model-year 2007–2008 TL sedans in the United States, to replace the power steering hose. In Canada, Acura will recall approximately 4,266 of the same sedan model and year for power steering hose replacement.

Acura reports that the power steering hose could deteriorate and develop a fluid leak over time. Leaking power steering fluid could lead to loss of power steering assistance or, if the fluid leaks onto a catalytic converter, could result in smoke or fire.

Acura spokesperson Alison Sobkowski confirmed the recall, and added that a small number of the sedans sold in Mexico and China were also affected, at 940 and 537, respectively.

The company does not expect to add any further vehicles to the recall, she said.

No crashes, injuries or fires have been reported related to this issue in either country, the company noted.

Acura said it will mail notifications to all affected customers in mid-June, and encourages these vehicle owners to visit an authorized dealer as soon as that notification is received.

Sobkowski said dealers will replace the power steering hose with an updated part supplied by Acura, and no additional repairs related to the hose should be necessary.
