NORTH TUSTIN, Calif. –
The Chevrolet Suburban is the overall winner of AutoPacific’s latest Ideal Vehicle Awards (IVA), which recognizes vehicles that impress owners the most.
And U.S. brands, in general, led the way.
Including Chevrolet, which dominated with six IVA wins this year. Parent company General Motors won seven categories (one from Cadillac and the six from Chevy.
Chevrolet won all three pickup segment categories with its the Silverado 1500, Silverado HD and Colorado models.(The latter tied in its category with the Honda Ridgeline.)
“The Suburban nailed most of the problem categories. Its packaging is just what their target consumer wants,” AutoPacific president George Peterson said in a news release.
But also in the spotlight this year are U.S. brands Tesla and Ford. They’ve been named 2018’s most ideal brand overall and most ideal popular brand, respectively.

Furthermore, U.S. brands took home 14 IVA vehicle wins, compared to 11 in 2017.
Meanwhile, European brands increased their win total from six to eight. Asian brands had five wins, versus six last year.
“IVA's speak to a vehicle's layout and design,” said Peterson. “Giving owners a chance to tell us what they would change and how they would change it reveals which vehicles are designed to meet their needs and expectations.
“In other words, having owners who are happy with things the way they are says the manufacturer did their upfront research and designed the vehicle with their target buyer in mind,” he continued.
