McLEAN, Va. –
Perhaps used-vehicle shoppers watched movies such as "Gone in 60 Seconds" or "Legally Blonde" last month and saw a Porsche playing a prominent role — because something triggered quite a spike in consumer activity on NADAguides.com for the sports-car brand.
Interest in Porsches soared 31 percent year-over-year in August, 10 percent more than fellow European luxury brand Audi.
According to the September issue of Guidelines, NADA Used Car Guide determined that after Audi’s 21-percent year-over-year consumer activity increase, 21 other brands enjoy increases of at least 10 percent.
That group included:
—Suzuki: 19 percent
—Mercedes-Benz: 19 percent
—Mercury: 19 percent
—Mini: 18 percent
—Saab: 18 percent
—Saturn: 17 percent
—Kia: 17 percent
—Mazda: 17 percent
—Buick: 17 percent
—Volkswagen: 16 percent
—Mitsubishi: 16 percent
—Volvo: 15 percent
—Lincoln: 14 percent
—Subaru: 13 percent
—Honda: 12 percent
—Infiniti: 12 percent
—Lexus: 12 percent
—Chrysler: 12 percent
—Jeep: 11 percent
—Cadillac: 11 percent
—Acura: 11 percent
—GMC: 10 percent
Turning to the top 15 researched models last month at NADAguides.com, shoppers showed their strong interest in pickups again, as a third of the list included these vehicles.
