DETROIT — General Motors revealed Thursday afternoon that it has a new vice president for Chevrolet marketing to replace Jim Campbell, who is moving to the position of vice president of performance vehicles and motorsports.

Taking the Chevrolet marketing post is Christopher Perry, who most recently was vice president of marketing for Hyundai Motor America.

The move is effective immediately.

Perry had been with the Korean automaker since 2000, when he started as head of brand planning. Before his time with Hyundai, he worked in various marketing and advertising positions with American Isuzu Motors for almost a decade.

"Chris brings 25 years of marketing experience — more than 20 years in the automotive industry — to the Chevrolet marketing position," noted Joel Ewanick, GM U.S. vice president of marketing and the executive to which Perry will report.

"I have worked with Chris in the past and know he will use his unique ability to integrate strategic and creative marketing activities across all communications disciplines to reconnect consumers to the Chevrolet brand," he added.

As far as Campbell, duties in his new post will entail the blending of the engineering and marketing of performance versions of GM's models. He will also head up all motorsports activities.

In the new position, Campbell reports to Mark Reuss, president of GM North America, as well as Tom Stephens, vice chairman of global product operations.
