Flexcar and Mercedes-Benz — automotive companies with a strong presence in Atlanta — are working to strengthen their connection to the community through its professional sports teams.

Flexcar, a Boston-based vehicle subscription service that began operating in Atlanta in 2021, announced a partnership with the Atlanta Braves.

The deal features advertisements in Truist Park, the baseball team’s home field, including rotational signage behind home plate and bullpen LED signs in every game during the 2023 regular season.

Flexcar will also have access to The Battery Atlanta digital ad kiosks during the postseason.

“We look forward to continuing to grow in Atlanta,” Flexcar chief marketing officer Corey Lewis said, “and we’re thrilled to partner with the Braves as part of our continued investment in the city.”

Since Flexcar opened in Atlanta, the company said, customers have driven more than 50 million miles in Flexcars. It opened a new office in nearby Stone Mountain, Ga., in 2023, and currently employs more than 20 people in the Atlanta metro area.

Mercedes-Benz USA, meanwhile, leaned on its “brand ambassador” — Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson — to host Camp MBUSA, along with the YMCA of Metro Atlanta and Safe Kids Worldwide.

More than 50 MBUSA employee volunteers joined Robinson at Mercedes-Benz’s U.S. headquarters in Atlanta to provide children from the YMCA with a series of fun field day activities and interactive safety education stations led by Safe Kids Worldwide to educate students about summer safety and injury prevention.

The event is part of MBUSA’s corporate social responsibility initiative, Driving Your Future, which aims to empower the next generation by supporting educational programs, career readiness and child safety.

“It was an incredible opportunity to work alongside Mercedes-Benz, Safe Kids Worldwide and YMCA of Metro Atlanta to help raise awareness about summer safety and spend time with these kids,” Robinson said. “As a new Atlantan, giving back to the community, and especially to Atlanta youth, has been such a fulfilling experience — I can’t wait to see how far these kids go in the future.”

Mercedes-Benz is a major sponsor of the Falcons, holding naming rights to the NFL team’s home stadium.
