AutoNation’s New-Vehicle Sales Climb by Double Figures

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
AutoNation revealed a double-digit year-over-year new-vehicle sales increase in April, moving a total of 18,266 units.
This amount represents an 11-percent rise from the same month last year.
The company went on to share how its retail new-vehicle unit sales broke down by operating segments:
—Domestic: 5,796 units, up 18 percent versus April 2010.
—Import: 9,123 units, up 4 percent versus April 2010.
—Premium luxury: 3,347, up 19 percent versus April 2010.

In other company news announced Wednesday, AutoNation’s board of directors authorized the repurchase of up to an additional $250 million of the company’s common stock.
The decision increases the total amount authorized under AutoNation’s existing stock repurchase program to $395.9 million.
