RIO LINDA, Calif. -

The wholesale market in his area has rebounded in the first few weeks of the year with the bulk of the surge being found among the later-model and pricier vehicles, according to John Brasher of Brasher’s Sacramento Auto Auction.

And while the lower-priced units “seemed to be a little bit softer the past two or three weeks,” this segment will likely soon show growth, Brasher projected in the auction’s latest post-sale video report examining the past week of activity.

Discussing more about the softness in the lower-priced ($4,000 and under) vehicles, Brasher said that “we’re not sure what to attribute that to … retail is reportedly pretty good.”

He continued: “But I think perhaps some of the customers for that kind of a car are perhaps waiting for tax time to come around. We anticipate that in the next few weeks when tax season kicks in for that to round out a very, very strong market for the beginning of the year. ”
