When looking at used vehicles in four segments to find which models with low mileages offer the best deals, CarGurus found that in three of the four classes, the vehicle offering the best value was from a Big 3 brand.

Assessing the values through DealFinder, CarGurus listed the following used vehicles from the 2007 through 2009 model years as providing the greatest percentage off original MSRP for their respective segments:

—Sedan: Chevrolet Malibu, 29-percent discount
—SUV: Jeep Grand Cherokee, 35-percent discount
—Compact SUV: Jeep Liberty, 27-percent discount
—Minivan: Kia Sedona, 37-percent discount

This assessment assumes that these units were being driven 12,000 miles per year.

“Everyone knows that used cars offer better value than buying new,” suggested CarGurus chief executive officer and founder Langley Steinert.

“However, with discounts on low-mileage used cars of as much as 37 percent, these specific models really represent great values,” Steinert added. “If you are looking for a great deal, these are the cars you should consider.”
