FAIRFIELD, Calif. -

Copart revealed Monday that it has bought a privately held auction company in Indiana called Barodge Auto Pool in a move officials said allows Copart to further bolster its footprint in the Midwest.

Thanks to its acquisition of the Hartford City, Ind.-based company, Copart can broaden its reach to include Indiana suppliers. Moreover, it also allows them to expand out to reach western Ohio, southern Michigan and eastern Illinois customers.

“This acquisition is the latest step in our strategy to expand Copart’s market share in the salvage auction industry and significantly expands our presence into Indiana and surrounding regions,” shared Copart chief executive officer Jay Adair.

“We welcome the Barodge team to our organization and look forward to extending our long-standing commitment to meeting the needs of our customers and providing the best customer service possible to our membership base,” Adair added.

Sharing more about Barodge Auto Pool, officials noted that it holds weekly sales that feature insurance and wholesalers units. Among the consignment is damaged, salvage and theft-recovery vehicles.
