DENVER -

Dealers Auto Auction of the Rockies celebrated its 16th birthday this past month with its annual Preview BBQ Dinner and a "sock hop" themed sale.

The celebration started off with the  sales Preview BBQ Dinner on Oct. 12, which was catered by a local company — Blue’s BBQ — the company shared.

“Blue’s BBQ started smoking the ribs at 6am, and by the time they were ready at 4 p.m.  there was a line of customers and employees ready to taste what they had smelled all day,” company officials said of the meal.

Alex Allen, auction marketing manager, commented on the dinner, noting "We wanted to give our dealers a chance to come down and preview our sale inventory and to say thank you for the 16 years of business.

“It gave us a chance to sit down and talk with our customers as friends,” he added.

The following day, the auction continued the festivities with its 16h Anniversary Sock Hop Sale.

While customers and auction staff milled around in 1950s gear, DAAR served soup and root beer floats to all the dealers.

The auction even gave “1950s nostalgia gifts” away throughout the sale, and dealers had the option to stay after the event for their chance to win a refurbished Rowe juke box.

"The juke box giveaway conjured up a lot of interest. I had dealers every week asking questions about it." said Michele Noblitt, auction manager. "Everyone wanted to win. We even had dealers who left to deliver vehicles but made sure to be present for the drawing."

Randall and Katherine Schwindt, of The Master Corporation, were the lucky winners of the big prize.

"Katherine bought a 1961 Deville during the sale, and when she won the juke box, she decided to keep the car to refurbish it," Allen shared.

In other company news, the DAAR also just hosted its Thanksgiving Sale this past Wednesday.

All upcoming events are posted on DAAR’s website.
