On Friday, Group 1 Automotive revealed it has purchased a dealership in Merriam, Kan.

Shawnee Mission Hyundai is expected to generate $50 million in estimated revenues.

“Group 1 is pleased to add a fourth Hyundai franchise to its portfolio and expand its presence in the Kansas City metropolitan area where we presently operate large BMW and Mini dealerships,” explained Earl Hesterberg, Group 1’s president and chief executive officer. “Hyundai is a growing brand that will further diversify and strengthen Group 1’s portfolio.”

David Zuchowski, Hyundai Motor America’s executive vice president of sales, added, “We are thrilled to secure an operator of the quality of Group 1 Automotive to represent the Hyundai brand in the Kansas City market. They share our commitment to providing an outstanding customer experience at their stores and are well-positioned to grow our presence in this really important market.”
