HOUSTON –

Group 1 Automotive revealed an expansion Tuesday within its hometown, as it purchased a Houston Ford store.

Group 1 will run the store as Sterling McCall Ford in its Central Region. The dealership was previously known as Freeway Ford.

Officials estimated the dealership will bring in annual revenues of about $70 million. It is located 6445 Southwest Freeway in Houston and joins Group 1’s 10 other stores in the area.

“We are pleased to add this Ford dealership to our existing group of stores in the strong Houston market,” stated Group 1 president and chief executive officer Earl Hesterberg.

“The dealership is in a desirable location and has significant upside potential as it is integrated into Group 1’s operations,” he added. “The acquisition of this Ford dealership is evidence of the strong relationship we have with Ford Motor Co. and is consistent with Group 1’s growth strategy of acquiring strong brands in our existing markets that will leverage scale, add value for our shareholders and gain market share.”
