SAN DIEGO -

Officials from instaVIN this week revealed the pricing from their instaVIN Salvage and VIN Check reports. Both dealers and consumers can receive these reports through mobile text messages for $2.99 each.

Unlike other vehicle history report suppliers, instaVIN emphasizes that it can deliver this information for not only vehicles but also for RVs and motorcycles. The company believes the reports can give information to help identify the “worst of the worst” vehicles prior to purchase.

Available online or via text, the company explained instaVIN Salvage and VIN Check reports can identify vehicles that have recently been declared a total loss by insurance companies or have been at a salvage auction or junkyard. Information is made available to instaVIN through its partnership with the Department of Justice and the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System.

Executives insist NMVTIS is the only vehicle history database into which all states, insurance carriers and junk salvage yards are required to report their data by federal law.

Management from instaVIN went on to mention that each Salvage and VIN Check report can show in real time whether a vehicle has been issued a salvage or related DMV title brand such as rebuilt or junk from a participating state DMV.

Officials reiterated NMVTIS requires each state to provide its title brand information to the system. They noted currently 39 states, representing nearly 90 percent of vehicles on the road, are providing data to NMVTIS.

Furthermore, instaVIN mentioned that its Salvage and VIN Check reports also feature 24-point vehicle specifications decoded from the VIN as well as local vehicle retail values.

“instaVIN reports benefit both dealers and consumers by providing the most important information on the worst wrecks or events in real time either online or via SMS text message,” stated Jim Irish, chief executive officer of MobileTrac, the provider of instaVIN data services.

“At just $2.99, instaVIN offers the most competitive rate in the industry compared to other history reporting services such as Carfax or AutoCheck,” Irish continued.

“Vehicles, including RVs and motorcycles, that are identified as title branded for salvage or for being a total insurance loss have issues that can affect the vehicle’s safety and value,” he went on to say.

In addition to the Salvage and VIN Check reports, instaVIN also offers Vehicle History and Title Reports for $6.99 each. In addition to the Salvage and VIN Check information, executives pointed out these reports can provide all 61 state title brand indicators such as broken odometer, rental vehicle or flood as well as ownership information, odometer history and accident information where available.
