WASHINGTON, D.C. -

J.D. Power and Associates and research and consulting organization SmartEnergy IP revealed today they will partner to present a forum to discuss the impact of electric vehicles on the Smart Grid — a term used to illustrate integrating new technologies into the electric grid in an effort to meet the 21st century’s demand for electricity.

The Smart EV Executive Leadership Forum is designed to address growing opportunities and challenges involved with the increased level of adoption of electric vehicles and is scheduled for Nov. 7 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. A networking reception will follow the event.

Officials noted the conference will bring together leaders from the energy and utility industries as well as stakeholders in the U.S. electric vehicle market. These leaders will then have the chance to discuss “a plan for future uptake and adoption of EVs as well as identify key objectives and parameters for keeping the grid stable,” officials stressed.

The forum will also serve as a means to start a dialogue among attendants about consumer needs — particularly those who own electric vehicles.

Moreover, J.D. Power and Associates will also announce the results of its 2011 Electric Vehicle Early Adopter Study during the upcoming event.

According to the presenting companies, the forum will include presentations and panels addressing the following questions:

—What is the role of electric vehicles in smart grid?

—What do utilities need to know to plan for the uptake and adoption of electric vehicles?

—What is the role of connected vehicle technology?

—What types of applications will best help consumers and ecosystem partners alike as they share information to help balance the grid and manage complex billing and charging?

—What can we expect the role of charging stations to be in this discussion?

—What do consumers want from their electric vehicle manufacturers, infrastructure developers and from their utilities in terms of preparing for their new lifestyle?

—What do policymakers need to know about electric vehicle adoption and the Smart Grid?

—Who are the early buyers of electric vehicles?

—What has their initial experience been like?
