SANTA MONICA, Calif. –
TrueCar handed out report cards on Wednesday to OEMs and brands, with one particular automaker being honored with a “perfect score.”
TrueCar uses eight measurements — for example, pricing, sales, incentives, customer loyalty, market share and days in inventory — to rate companies in its Performance Scorecards.
With an “A+” score, Hyundai topped the list of manufacturers and tied with Porsche and Scion for the lead among specific brands.
“Hyundai’s robust sales and market share growth, while lowering incentives spending and inventory turn rates, enabled the manufacturer to receive a perfect score this month,” stated Jesse Toprak, TrueCar’s vice president of industry trends and insights.
Porsche and BMW tied for second among manufacturers, as each received an A. Conversely, Saab, with its D, was rated lowest among all OEMs, followed by Honda with a D+.
Suzuki and Mazda were tied for third-from-the-bottom, each receiving a C-.

By brand, Honda received the lowest grade (D-), with Saab, Chrysler and Ram brands all being given Ds.
“Not surprisingly, except for Saab, the bottom six manufacturers were all Japanese and ranked low primarily because of major drops in their market share,” Toprak added.
TrueCar also delved into the OEMs showing the most improvement from April. According to officials, Daimler (C- to B) and General Motors (B+ to A) had the biggest gains.
Meanwhile, Honda (C+ to D+), Chrysler (B to C+) and Volkswagen (A- to B) showed the heaviest drop-offs.
