CARY, N.C. -

Free recommendations on best dealership practices from Carfax, DealerTrack and OPENLANE prompted close to 400 store managers and salespeople to register for the last Auto Remarketing Training Series Webinar of the year.

Dealers who might have missed Tuesday’s session still can get all of the information shared by three of the used-vehicle industry’s top dealer trainers during the free Webinar orchestrated by Auto Remarketing and the Pre-Owned Automobile Dealers Alliance.

The recorded Webinar and accompanying PowerPoint slides include these presentations:

—Always Buy the Right Car at the Right Price with Chad Goodson, process improvement manager at Carfax. Goodson asked dealers to consider a look at their store through the shopper’s eyes and to keep in mind how valuable one-owner units are — models that often constitute about 65 percent of typical inventory.

—Building Consumer Confidence in Your Online Operations with Dennis Carey, senior area sales manager at DealerTrack. Carey emphasized that the shorter the time it is to get units ready for the Web, the better. He stressed that time could mean the difference between making a retail profit of more than $1,600 per unit and taking a wholesale loss of more than $1,000 per vehicle.

—Online Wholesale Auctions: Not Just Off-Lease Inventory Anymore with Todd Dearborn, director of sales at OPENLANE. Dearborn advised dealers to use all online wholesale channels available when touching on recommendations to find inventory to retail or to get the most for units that haven’t, especially since auction volume will be tight for at least another year.
