ATLANTA -

Every metric measured in the October Manheim Digital Monthly Update rose, including the number of online buyers and sellers, as well as mobile use.

Manheim revealed Wednesday that on average, 54,000 users log into OVE.com on a monthly basis. That’s 13 percent more than the reading in October of last year.

The update showed the percentage of vehicles sold online in October settled at 24 percent. Compared to the same month last year, the amount of sellers on OVE.com is up by 27 percent and the amount of buyers on the site is 9 percent higher.

In other elements of the report, year-over-year traffic to Manheim’s website is 10 percent higher, as the company said it is averaging 4.8 million visits per month so far this year.

Mobile site use also is on the rise. Manheim indicated it has received more than 1.7 million total visits through October to its mobile platform, nearly double from what Manheim enjoyed during that span in 2010.

Commenting about the data, Amy Mills, senior director of product strategy at Manheim Digital, told Auto Remarketing, “It’s very exciting because it’s really representative of the additional options our customers have to offer and purchase vehicles. Mobile is really fueling a lot of it.

“If you think about the car business, mobile phones have been a part of it for decades,” Mills continued. “The real exciting part of the opportunity is we can now deliver more and more of the marketplace to that device that dealers have used for a long time. Dealers are speaking very loudly. You can tell by their clicks and how they’re logging on using the Manheim app and the mobile Web tool.”

Mills then shared an anecdote about the first vehicle Manheim sold this past summer where the transaction took place completely through a smartphone.

“The dealer had done all of the research and purchased the vehicle right at his kitchen table as he was eating breakfast in the morning,” Mills recounted.

“To me, that’s a testament to the unbelievable value," she stressed. "I can start to manage my business around my schedule. More and more of how they’re interacting with Manheim truly has become anytime and anywhere.

Last month also marked the one-year anniversary of Manheim launching its iPhone app. The company rolled out a Google Android version this past summer.

“We launched the Manheim apps, and they’ve been downloaded more than 62,000 times. It puts the power of the Manheim Marketplace in the palm of your hand,” Mills emphasized.

“We’re committed to developing solutions that make it easier for customers to research, buy and sell with us,” she added.

One other point Manheim made in its monthly digital update had to do with its Market Report. The company indicated Market Report app receives nearly 2 million visits monthly, a level 10 percent higher than a year earlier.
