MARENGO, Ill. -

Early next month, Mecum Auctions will host a special sale featuring the personal classic car collection of Bob McDorman, a Chevrolet dealer in Ohio.

Up for sale will be a Chevrolet Corvette representing each model year going back to 1953. There will also be 12 serial No. 1 Corvettes offered, as well.

Bunkie Knudsen’s 1963 Corvette Sting Ray will be featured as will a customized 1964 Sting Ray that he got for his wife, Florence. The latter goes by the name "Pink Pearl."

In addition to the Corvettes, a 1938 Chevrolet Cabriolet that General Motors of France crafted will also be featured in the sale. This was done as part of an “overseas styling exercise.” Just two prototypes were built and this is the only one remaining, officials noted.

Collectibles, neon signs and parts will be offered, as well.

The event is slated for Nov. 5-6 at McDorman’s dealership in Canal Winchester, Ohio.

“I’ve known Bob on both a personal and a professional level for more than 30 years, having consigned his items at our auctions, found unique vehicles for him to purchase and even bought my own family’s new cars from his dealership,” stated Dana Mecum, the company’s president.

“He is one of the finest Corvette collectors in our industry with a fantastic influence over the hobby, and this auction is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for enthusiasts to acquire these high-quality vehicles,” Mecum added.
