Mercedes-Benz Financial Services named a new president and chief executive officer for The Americas this week. Taking on this post is Peter Zieringer, current chairman of Germany’s Mercedes-Benz Bank.

Zieringer was also appointed to the Daimler Financial Services Board of Management, reporting to chairman Klaus Entenmann.

The current president and chief executive officer with operational responsibilities for the Americas is making the jump across the Atlantic to lead operations in Europe. Franz Reiner will also serve as chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Bank in Stuttgart, Germany.

The Americas post includes responsibilities for the U.S., Canada, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico,

"I congratulate both Franz Reiner and Peter Zieringer on their new positions,” said Entenmann. “For years, they have greatly contributed to the success of our company.”

The workings of Mercedes-Benz Bank are already familiar to Reiner, who started his career with the bank 18 years ago as a trainee.

Reiner returns to the bank after holding positions including head of financial services operations in Canada, vice president of Mercedes-Benz Financial Services for the U.S., and most recently, Reiner succeeded Entenmann as president and CEO the Americas.

Moving on, Zieringer began his career in 1993 with Daimler AG and moved to Singapore soon after to help build the financial services activities in the region.

In 2001, Zieringer was named managing director of the financial services activities in France and was appointed chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Bank in 2005, where he significantly contributed to the overall profits of Daimler Financial Services, the company stressed.

Both appointments will be effective August, 1.
