MONTVALE, N.J. — Mercedes-Benz recently welcomed the world's top male tennis player as its latest brand ambassador. Agreeing to a multi-platform, multi-year global marketing deal with the automaker was Roger Federer, who has 16 Grand Slam titles to his name and boasts the No. 1 ranking on the ATP World Tour.

Covered under the deal are the use of Federer's image, personal appearances and product placement.

The deal goes along with the automaker launching its sponsorship of the U.S. Tennis Open Championship in August.

Federer has been an ambassador for Mercedes-Benz China for more than two years.

"I am delighted to that we are adding Roger Federer to the Mercedes-Benz family of sports and celebrity ambassadors on a global level," stated Stephen Cannon, vice president of marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA.

"When it comes to tennis, he is without doubt one of the greatest of all time and he truly has become a global icon," Cannon added. "We are looking forward to working with Roger on a number of initiatives. Much like our own brand, Roger has an impressive and unrivalled history but the best is still yet to come."
