The National Auto Auction Association recently expressed its condolences to the family and friends of the late Raymond Jarrell, owner of Clarksville Auto Auction in Clarksville, Tenn.
As it mourned Jarrell’s passing, NAAA remembered the life and career of its “member and friend,” who passed away at age 71 on Dec. 30 at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
NAAA said Jarrell was an "avid car salesman" and earned the moniker of the “Deal-Making Man.”
He got his start in the auto business as the first used-car manager at Jenkins and Wynne in Clarksville. Jarrell would go on to manage Crown Ford in Nashville, Tenn., as well as Preston Lincoln Mercury, which is also in the Music City.

He would eventually go on to become the owner of University Ford Lincoln Mercury in Murfreesboro.

During his retirement years, Jarrell became the owner of Specialty Auto in Murfreesboro as well as Clarksville AA.
Sharing some of his Jarrell’s life outside the auto industry, NAAA noted that he counted Blue Raider Athletics as well as horseback and trail riding as his top hobbies.
Jarrell jointly owned Buffalo Trail Ride in Waynesboro, Tenn., and was associated with Murfreesboro’s Walking Eagles Coffee Club at Reeves-Sain, according to NAAA.
He was a member of Rutherford County Sportsman Club, Walter Hill Country Club and the First United Methodist Church. He was also the former director of the First Tennessee Bank and formerly belonged to the Rotary Club.
Jarrell’s surviving family includes: his wife, Greta Hale Jarrell; son Kip Jarrell; daughter Tonya and son-in-law Terry Rode; daughter Briley Kay Jarrell; grandchildren Chase Roden, Austin Roden, Nikki and her husband Adam Davis; brother Ralph Jarrell and sister-in-law Mona Jarrell;  brother Jimmy Jarrell and sister-in-law Patsy Jarrell; brother Ernest Jarrell and sister-in-law Brenda Jarrell; children and grandchildren of heart, Pam Thompson, Randy Troutt and his wife Vada Troutt, Shane Thompson, Ryne Thompson, Cory Troutt, Sheena Tignor, Brandy and her husband Brent Tignor; and many nieces and nephews
Memorial donations are requested to be made out to the American Cancer Society in Jarrell’s honor.
“The National Auto Auction Association extends its deepest sympathy to the Jarrell family and friends,” the association said.
