NADA Urges Members to Vie for U.S. Chamber’s ‘Hiring Our Heroes’ Award

Because of its leadership in employing U.S. military veterans and their spouses, the National Automobile Dealers Association is urging members to submit nominations for the first annual “Hiring Our Heroes” award orchestrated by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
To be eligible for the award, NADA indicated a dealership must currently employ at least one person who is a veteran. There are five award categories:
—Veteran and Military Spouse Employment (General Award)
—Veteran and Military Spouse Employment (Small Business Award)
—Wounded Warrior Transition Assistance
—Providing Employment or Internships for Post 9-11 Veterans
—Women Veteran Employment.
The association said award finalists and winners will be recognized at the Chamber’s fourth annual “Hiring our Heroes” event and awards dinner on Nov. 10 in Washington, D.C.
Representatives of the nominated businesses and up to one guest must be able to attend.
NADA stressed the nominations are due no later than noon on Sept. 23.
“We have long supported the ‘Hiring Our Heroes’ program,” stated NADA chairman Stephen Wade.
“We’re pleased the Chamber of Commerce is now recognizing businesses that are hiring military veterans with an awards program each year,” Wade added.
