ESTERO, Fla. -

Kenny Cheung, who was recently promoted to executive vice president of finance, chief operational finance and restructuring officer for Hertz Global Holdings, has been named the company's chief financial officer.

Cheung, who previously served as senior vice president of global financial planning and analysis and chief financial officer of North America at Hertz, joined the company in 2018.

Before joining Hertz, Cheung served in financial leadership posts with Nielsen Holdings PLC, most recently as global chief audit executive.  Also during his time with Nielsen, Cheung  served as regional chief operating officer after serving as regional chief financial officer.

Before his time at Nielsen, Cheung was with General Electric with roles in supply chain, operations, and financial planning and analysis.

He has assumed his new role as Hertz CFO,  a move that was effective Thursday.

In the new post, Cheung succeeds R. Eric Esper, who resigned to pursue a new opportunity. Esper will remain with Hertz as chief accounting officer until Nov 1 to assist in the transition.

“Kenny has developed a deep understanding of our business, and we’re pleased that he is stepping into this role and expanding his financial leadership responsibilities at this important time as we continue taking steps to best position Hertz for the future,” Hertz chief executive officer Paul Stone said in a news release.
