America’s Auto Auction’s Virginia Beach location is under new management.

The company announced it has named Derek Simmerman as general manager and Janice Hicks as assistant GM, citing their “dedication and significant contributions” as well as “a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the automobile auction industry.”

Simmerman learned the auction industry in his seven-and-a-half years at Greensboro Auto Auction, where he worked as assistant marketing manager and fleet department manager. He joined America’s Auto Auction Virginia Beach as assistant GM in October 2021.

“I am truly grateful for my team and eagerly anticipate the exciting opportunities that lie ahead,” he said in a news release.

Hicks has moved up the ranks at America’s Auto Auction Virginia Beach, serving as lot attendant, lane coordinator, redemption manager, fleet coordinator, office clerk, transportation manager and sales manager.

She said all of those experiences has prepared her for her new role.

“I am immensely thankful for the journey that has molded me into who I am today and for the chance to contribute further in this capacity,” she said.

America’s Auto Auction senior vice president Brian Thomas said the promotions “reflect our commitment to nurturing talent within our team.”

“Derek and Janice’s industry knowledge, leadership skills and dedication make them the perfect fit for these roles,” Thomas said. “We look forward to the positive impact they will continue to make at our Virginia Beach location.”
