Nissan said Monday that chairman of the Americas Carlos Tavares is moving to the role of chief operating officer of Renault and taking his place atop the region is Colin Dodge, whose current role is executive vice president and chief performance officer for Nissan globally.
Dodge also serves as chairman of the AMIE region, which consists of Africa, the Middle East, India and Europe.
Dodge will maintain the aforementioned positions while also taking on the role of chairman of the Americas region effective June 13.
In a separate announcement, Nissan Americas revealed a new position: vice chairman of Nissan Americas, which will be filled by Bill Krueger.
He will work closely with and report to Dodge and serve as Nissan Americas’ top resident executive. Krueger’s responsibilities will include heading up day-to-day operations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil and 37 Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Krueger’s most recent post with Nissan Americas was as senior vice president of manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain management and total customer satisfaction.
His duties in this post included heading up all manufacturing and supply-chain management duties for the automakers three U.S. and two Mexican plants.
Krueger’s background also includes manufacturing leadership roles with Toyota and General Motors.
“Bill Krueger has demonstrated the business acumen and leadership qualities necessary to take on the added responsibilities required of a resident Vice Chairman,” Dodge noted.
“As I assume chairman responsibilities for the Americas, Bill will be instrumental in managing the day-to-day operational aspects of our business in the region,” he added.
