It wasn’t just the best-ever November for certified pre-owned sales.

Last month’s CPO total means the market has officially hit its third straight year of record annual sales, as Autodata Corp. pinpointed the year-to-date sum at 1.94 million units through 11 months of 2013.

Autodata also provided a brand-by-brand look at CPO sales for November, a month where automakers combined to move 176,493 certified units. But first, the overall results.

The monthly industry sum for November represents a 19.3-percent year-over-year improvement. As for the year-date sum, it’s a 15.7-percent hike from the same period of 2012 and also exceeds the then-record 1.83 million CPO sales from full-year 2012.

Furthermore, Autodata emphasized that industry-wide CPO sales are on pace to eclipse 2 million sales for the first time.

As for individual brands, here’s how their sales shaped up in November:

Starting off with the Korean brands, Hyundai moved 6,118 certified vehicles for the month, up 5.7 percent from November 2012. Year-to-date sales are at 69,907 units, a 9.6-percent hike.

Kia sold 3,094 CPO units in November, for a 54.6-percent year-over-year increase. It has moved 31,479 certified vehicles through 11 months of 2013, which is 74.4 percent ahead of year-ago figures.

Next up, Mazda sold 3,529 certified vehicles in November, compared to 2,618 units a year ago.

Through 11 months, it has moved 34,719 certified vehicles, compared to 24,461 CPO vehicles in the same period of 2012.

Roger Basa, manager of CPO and remarketing, also mentioned that Mazda has grabbed 2 percent of the CPO market for the first time.  

Volkswagen’s 7,139 CPO sales in November marked an improvement of just over 5 percent. Its 86,824 CPO sales through 11 months represent a 10.26-percent hike.

Audi sold 3,612 certified vehicles for the month, compared to 2,845 in November 2012.  Through November, it has moved 36,168 CPO units, against 33,148 sold in the year-ago time frame.

On the domestic side, Ford’s brands combined for 19,424 certified sales (up 38 percent) in November, pushing the year-to-date sum to 209,436 units (up 33.7 percent).

At General Motors, certified pre-owned sales for the Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Pontiac and Saturn brands came in at 27,985 units for the month, up 30 percent year-over-year.

Through 11 months, sales for these same brands have reached 316,754 units (up 25 percent).

Over at Cadillac, it moved 1,558 CPO units for November (up 21.7 percent) and its 11-month sum was 16,833 vehicles (up 12.1 percent).

Chrysler’s brands combined to move 10,835 certified vehicles for the month (up 14.4 percent) and hit 112,737 sales year-to-date (up 8.8 percent). Fiat, which is not included in the aforementioned results, sold 40 certified vehicles in November, compared to 23 a year ago.

Honda moved 19,229 certified vehicles in November for a 7.9-percent hike and its year-to-date sum climbed to 228,405 (up 3.6 percent).

Acura’s 3,493 CPO sales in November were off 0.3 percent from a year ago, and its 38,374 CPO sales through 11 months were down 4.6 percent.

At Nissan, dealers moved 9,930 certified units in November (up 21.2 percent) and have sold 105,786 certified vehicles so far this year (up 8.7 percent).

As for Infiniti, it sold 1,103 certified vehicles for the month (up 32.9 percent) and moved its year-to-date sum to 10,613 units (down 2.1 percent).

Toyota sold 30,855 certified vehicles for the month, representing a 10.7-percent hike. Through 11 months, its dealers sold 342,209 CPO units for a 13.1-percent gain.

Lexus moved 5,780 in November (up 11.6 percent), with year-to-date sales at 66,502 units (up 7.3 percent).

Subaru’s 3,413 certified sales in November were up 36.5 percent year-over-year, and its year-to-date sum of 33,565 units was up 45.6 percent.

Porsche said its Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle sales came in at 993 last month, and its yearly sum is at 9,125 units.

Mercedes-Benz certified pre-owned notched 8,847 sales for the month (up 24 percent) and 89,349 sales through 11 months (up 22 percent). These include sales for smart’s division.

In its sales release, BMW reported sales of used vehicles (which include CPO and non-CPO used), noting it moved 15,838 of these units for a 25.1-percent hike. Through 11 months, it has sold 163,476 used cars for a 10.6- percent hike.

Likewise, MINI’s used sales (which include MINI NEXT certified pre-owned and pre-owned) came in at 1,936 units for November (up 46.8 percent) and year-to-date volume is up 21.3 percent with 20,079 sales.

At Volvo, its dealers sold 805 CPO units for the month, compared to 973 in November 2012.

Through 11 months, Volvo has sold 9,382 certified vehicles, against 10,874 sold in the same period of last year.
Jaguar moved 262 certified vehicles in November (down 2.6 percent) and Land Rover sold 605 (up 11.8 percent).

Mitsubishi moved 64 CPO units in November, Maserati sold 38 and Bentley was estimated to have sold 30.
