Cars Commerce has added a veteran software engineer as its chief technology officer.
The company said Cormac Twomey, who takes over effective Dec. 10, will be responsible for speeding innovation, scaling the technology platform, driving the company’s ascent in artificial intelligence and enabling automotive retail and wholesale.

“Under his leadership, we will enhance our technological foundation and further accelerate our platform strategy,” CEO Alex Vetter said. “I am confident Cormac’s strong SaaS, digital marketplace, AI and data pedigree, coupled with his success in building world-class technology organizations, will be a powerful catalyst for driving innovation and platform advantages to fuel our company’s future growth.”
Twomey comes to Cars Commerce after two years as CTO for workplace software platform Envoy, which followed a 10-year stint with OpenTable, beginning as vice president of engineering and rising to CTO.
With OpenTable, Cars Commerce said, Twomey led the successful migration of the company from a lead-generation and reservation marketplace into “a sophisticated SaaS-based solutions model,” creating revenue growth and increasing the platform’s distribution power with small- and medium-sized businesses. He helped scale OpenTable’s platform to more than 60,000 local businesses, enabling them to compete with larger players through data and technology, which Cars Commerce said aligns with its vision to enable local retail at scale.
Twomey, who has also held an engineering leadership position with eHarmony, said looks forward to joining Cars Commerce’s “trusted brands, rich data sets and energetic culture to continue to define how data and technology power automotive retail and wholesale,” as well as “partnering with the talented team at Cars Commerce to exceed consumer expectations and enable local businesses with leading technology solutions.”
