Carvana is now the official auto retailer of Stanford athletics, thanks to a multi-year partnership with Stanford University’s athletic department.
In a news release, the online used-car retailer said it will bring its “customer-first, tech-driven approach to the Cardinal campus, celebrating Stanford’s legacy of athletic tradition, academic excellence and engaged community.”
Stanford claims the title of all-time leader in NCAA team championships with 137.
“Carvana’s pioneering, entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to creating exceptional experiences make them an exciting partner for Stanford Athletics,” said John Donahoe, Stanford’s Jaquish & Kenninger director and chair of athletics. “We’re looking forward to building on Stanford’s tremendous athletic and academic legacy, teaming up with Carvana to elevate Cardinal traditions for students, athletes, alumni and fans.”
Through the partnership, Carvana will sponsor some of those traditions, including the jingling of keys during the kickoff of football games, which be billed as Carvana Keys and will include custom LED signage “to light up the sidelines and rev up the energy of the crowd.”
Carvana will also be the presenting sponsor of Stanford basketball’s student sections in Maples Pavilion — The 6th Man driven by Carvana — providing co-branded giveaways, visible signage and a student section lounge called the Carvana Club.

Other sponsorships include the “REV IT UP” Cam, fueled by Carvana, a videoboard feature at home basketball games spotlighting the loudest fans in the building, and on-court contests for fans and students during home basketball games with exclusive prizes.
In addition to its presence during games, Carvana will join with Stanford to feature the entrepreneurial spirit of Stanford student-athletes through a co-branded content series highlighting off-field achievements and as host of networking events connecting students and alumni with Carvana leaders for mentorship and career growth.
“This partnership is meaningful on both a personal and professional level,” said Carvana chief product officer Dan Gill, a former Stanford gymnast who was recently inducted into the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame. “As a student-athlete at Stanford, I learned so much about persistence, resilience, creativity and teamwork — key qualities that also guide Carvana’s culture. It’s exciting to see these two communities come together in a way that celebrates and builds on the values of Stanford athletics.”
