Jimmie Johnson is headed home — and Carvana made sure his car reflects that.

The NASCAR Hall of Famer and owner of LEGACY MOTOR CLUB will be driving in NASCAR’s inaugural Anduril 250 Race the Base, coming up June 21 in San Diego. The race course through the streets of Naval Base Coronado is just 20 miles from El Cajon, Calif., where Johnson was born, grew up and began his racing career on motorcycles at age 4.

His car for the event was designed as a “visual autobiography”, primary sponsor Carvana said in a news release, featuring details that draw from Johnson’s life, from skateboarding at Mission Beach to his seven NASCAR Cup Series championships.

“Carvana and their design team have outdone themselves with this scheme,” Johnson said. “They’ve told my life story with this livery. Every detail captures a chapter of my life, my family and my journey through NASCAR. Carvana has been an incredible partner, and I can’t wait to bring this car home to San Diego.”

The Carvana logo on the hood of the No. 84 Toyota Camry XSE is flanked by jets, evoking the fighter jets Johnson watched as a boy as they flew over to and from the nearby military installations, with the names of his wife and daughters spelled out in the vapor trails.

The sides of the car show vignettes from Johnson’s past against a Southern California sunset backdrop, including a motorcycle he raced at his home track Barona Oaks, a Ferris wheel from the Del Mar fairgrounds, and his off-road truck with the orange lightning bolt that marked his early Chevrolet stadium and desert truck days. Johnson’s high school, Granite Hills, is ghosted into the upper portion of the car beside the San Diego skyline.

Toward the front, the neon yellow he ran throughout his Hendrick Motorsports career shows up as a homage to his time in the No. 48 car that carried him to his seven titles.

The paint scheme also honors Johnson’s legacy of giving back with a Foundation Lane street sign — the road in Elkhorn, Calif., named for the Jimmie Johnson Foundation on which he and his team built an entire block of homes through Habitat for Humanity.

“We wanted this car to reflect everything that makes San Diego so special to Jimmie,” Carvana co-founder and chief brand officer Ryan Keeton said. “From the jets over the coast to Foundation Lane, every element of this design carries real meaning. We’re proud to be part of this homecoming and are so excited to see Jimmie out on the track in his hometown.”
