In Oregon, a state enthusiastic about running, a local dealership group is going the distance.
Bay Area Auto Group has acquired Power Chevrolet GMC and Power Ford in Newport, Ore., from Power Auto Group, according to Pinnacle Mergers & Acquisitions, which advised the seller in the transaction.
Bay Area Auto, led by Hardeep Singh, Jay Dhillon and Doug Hildreth, also operates Bay Area Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Coos Bay — the hometown of legendary Oregon distance runner Steve Prefontaine. Its new stores in Newport are an ultramarathon away, some 100 miles up the Pacific coast.
Distance was also the reason Power, owned by the Koehnke family was ready to part with the dealerships. The company’s other five locations are all in the Salem-Corvallis area, about 80 miles east of Newport.
“We made the difficult decision to sell these stores because of the location and distance from the main footprint of our other stores in the Salem area,” CEO Jeff Koehnke said. “Hardeep and his team were an ideal fit who I believe, and hope, will do very well with the stores.”
Expansion doubles service capacity of Car Pros’ Moreno Valley store
Car Pros Automotive Group has opened an expanded service center at Car Pros Kia Moreno Valley, a $2.25 million, 7,500-square-foot addition that includes 14 service bays, more than doubling its capacity from 13 bays to 27 and from 40-50 appointments per day to more than 100.

The facility includes dedicated quick-lube lanes, expanded express service capability and additional Kia Certified Master Technicians with hybrid and electric vehicle expertise. Car Pros said the dealership’s staff has grown by 20% to support demand.
Car Pros Kia Moreno Valley, which opened in 2022, reported record sales in 2025 and ranked as the No. 7 Kia retailer in the U.S. for the year, the company said in a news release.
“Expanding our Moreno Valley service center allows us to better support Kia drivers across Riverside County,” Car Pros CEO Matthew Phillips said. “By adding 14 new service bays, increasing technician staffing and creating new jobs, we are further strengthening our connection to the local community while enabling faster, more consistent turnaround times and next-day appointment availability for most routine services.”
Car Pros, which operates six dealerships in Southern California, is the nation’s top-selling Kia retailer.
The dealership also unveiled a large-scale mural for the exterior of the service center by Patrick Barwinski, a local artist born and raised in Moreno Valley.
The artwork “reflects the vibrant landscape of the Moreno Valley,” Car Pros said.
“I hope the mural brings a smile to your face,” Barwinski said. “If I were to give a title to this mural, it would be ‘Joy Ride’ — live life, enjoy the ride, cruise and take it easy.”
