McLEAN, Va. -

Dealers interested in comparing their dealership data against regional and national numbers have an extended deadline to take part in a study by NADA University.

National Automobile Dealers Association and American Truck Dealers member dealers now have until April 30 to participate in the 2013 Dealership Workforce Study, which was launched last year by the education and training arm of NADA in partnership with DeltaTrends.

Dealers participate via a secure web-based portal, following a step-by-step enrollment process based on either single dealership enrollments or multi-dealer group enrollments.

“Dealers who took part in the study last year are overwhelmingly telling us that the level of detail offered in these individualized reports is already helping them to improve their workforce management for the long-term,” said 2013 NADA chairman David Westcott.

Once the study is completed and analyzed, each participating dealer will receive a complimentary individualized Basic Report, NADA said, which compares his own dealership’s compensation, retention and turnover, and employee benefits data against data aggregated on a regional and national basis.

Dealer participants will also have the option to purchase an individualized Enhanced Report, further comparing their dealership data against that for their franchise and state.

In addition to the individualized reports, a full Dealership Workforce Study Industry Report will also be provided free to all participants.

Produced in partnership with Northwood University, the Industry Report expands the association’s former biennial compensation study by capturing, analyzing and tabulating dealership workforce data for every region of the United States, NADA reported.

Helping to generate participation by their member dealers again this year are Automotive Trade Association Executives.

“Many of our dealers in Nebraska, as well as those in other states and metro areas, participated in last year’s study, and they were very pleased with the ease of the process and all the information they’ve received,” said A. Loy Todd Jr., president and general counsel of the Nebraska New Car and Truck Dealers Association and outgoing chairman of ATAE.

“The individualized data gives dealers a much clearer picture of how they’re doing against their competition, and the entire industry, in terms of attracting and retaining top talent,” he said.

NADA University has again teamed with automotive retail research and consulting firm DeltaTrends, which will handle data collection and analysis for the workforce study.

A Northwood University team led by Dr. Tim Nash, vice president and professor of economics, will analyze national and regional data for the report again this year.
