EVCARCO Looks to Lease EVs

Increased demand for electric and hybrid vehicles has one company working even harder to bring high-tech options to the U.S. automotive market.
Auto retail group EVCARCO Inc. this week announced plans for the development of its EV Leasing Program, meant to help the company meet increased demand for new and pre-owned electric and hybrid vehicles now available in the U.S.
Focused on deploying a nationwide network of environmentally-friendly franchised dealerships, vehicles, technologies and sustainable solutions, EVCARCO aims to bring advanced clean technologies to market in plug-in electric, alternative fuel, and pre-owned hybrid vehicles from multiple manufacturers, company officials said.
“We have submitted to licensing which will allow us to solicit EV consumers to enter into a lease of any new or pre-owned EV or hybrid vehicle sold in the United States,” said EVCARCO chief executive officer Walter Speck, “including vehicles such as new Chevy Volts, Nissan Leafs, Teslsas, BMWs, Toyotas, and other alternative-fuel vehicles.”
EVCARCO points to EV Market Development for 2012 that shows 53,000 total EVs sold in the U.S., and said 2013 half-year totals are running at an average of more than 7,000 a month.
Nissan sold 1,864 Leaf electric cars in July, bringing Leaf sales for the first seven months of 2013 to 11,703, more than the company sold in the U.S. during all of 2011 or 2012.
Sales of the Chevrolet Volt electric car totaled 1,788 in July, EVCARCO said, with total Volt sales of 11,643 in the first seven months of the year, versus 10,666 at the same time last year.
And sales of Tesla’s Model-S totaled 5,150 in North America last quarter, an average of 1,700 cars a month for the California company, matching the Tesla to the same standings as current plug-in vehicle champions, the Nissan Leaf and the Chevy Volt.
Finally, EVCARCO noted that on July 29 of this year, BMW unveiled plans for the all-electric BMW i3.
Other hybrid vehicles referenced by the company include the 2013 Fusion Hybrid; 2013 BMW ActiveHybrid3; 2013 no-plug C-Max Hybrid and plug-in C-Max Energi Hybrid; 2014 Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid; 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV; 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid; 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid; 2013 Lexus RX 450h; 2013 Toyota Camry Hybrid; 2013 Lexus GS 450h; 2013 Lexus LS 600h L; 2013 Toyota Prius; 2013 Mercedes-Benz E400H Hybrid; 2013 Mercedes-Benz S400HV; 2013 Honda Insight; and the 2013 Lexus ES Hybrid.
