Ford & Chrysler Announce Campaigns for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As October kicks off breast cancer awareness month, many of the OEMs are doing their part to help efforts to raise awareness and funds to fight the disease. Chrysler Group, for one, begins its month-long campaign this week.
The company will be holding informational awareness seminars for its employees with health plan partners Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Henry Ford Health System, and employees will also be able to schedule breast cancer screenings at various nearby company locations, officials said.
And Auburn Hill, Mich., residents can expect to see something a little out of the ordinary at the Chrysler Group headquarters. The company said it will illuminate its headquarters tower and Pentastar pink for the whole month of October.
In order to raise general awareness, the company will also distribute pink "Chrysler Cares" wrist bands to all employees.
"Chrysler Group is proud to participate in the annual campaign to increase awareness about the resources that are available to foster early detection, treatment and prevention of breast cancer," said Nancy Rae, senior vice president of human resources at Chrysler Group. "We are pleased to add our voice to this important cause."
The company’s campaign this year will focus the importance of early detection, treatment and prevention, officials said.
Ford Launches its 19th Campaign to Raise Awareness, Fight Against Breast Cancer.
Ford Warriors in Pink — the program created by Ford Motor Co. to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer — is gearing up for this year’s campaign.
The program will be launching two video series this month as part of the campaign.
Ford Warriors in Pink in partnership with celebrity new site PopSugar will launch a video series titled, "In Her World," that will feature prominent women sharing their "stories of success and challenge" with the disease, the company said.
The second video series — "Courage Talks," part of the Models of Courage campaign created in 2012 — covers the difficult conversations breast cancer patients will inevitably face.
Furthermore, the Warriors in Pink and actor Gilles Marini will be in New York City promoting the limited-edition T-shirt Marini created to aid in the fight against the disease.
A full 100 percent of the net proceeds from the limited-edition "United with Love" T-shirt Marini created will go to the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation, the company shared.
"Ford Warriors in Pink will continue to be a united force in the fight against breast cancer," said Tracy Magee, Ford experiential marketing manager. "As long as there are women and men out there battling breast cancer, we will be here fighting alongside them."
The Ford Warriors in Pink will also be partnering again with CBS to create public service announcements featuring Warriors in Pink apparel that will air throughout October.
