WASHINGTON, D.C. –
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Ford is recalling the 2013 C-Max Hybrid not equipped with panoramic roofs, which includes a little more than 33,000 vehicles.
During vehicle testing, NHTSA indicated the unit exceeded a head injury criteria requirement set by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 201 titled, “Occupant Protection in Interior Impact.”
Thus, officials said these vehicles manufactured between Jan. 19 through June 25 of last year fail to conform to the standard.
“In the event of a crash, an occupant could be at an increased risk of an injury,” NHTSA said.
The agency said Ford will notify owners and franchised dealers will install energy absorbers between the headliner and the roof. The recall is expected to begin on Aug. 19.
In the meantime, owners can contact the Ford Customer Relationship Center at (866) 436-7332 and reference recall No. 13C02.
