DEARBORN, Mich. -

FordDirect appointed one of its own executives to be interim general counsel and chief compliance officer for the joint venture between the Blue Oval and its franchise dealers.

Chosen for the role was Beth Hill.

The company highlighted Hill’s automotive and technology experience spans more than a decade and focuses on how data is transforming the automotive experience and industry.

At FordDirect, Hill is focused on developing the organization’s guidance and training for compliance and ethics, including data privacy, security and intellectual property. She is also leading the implementation of new organizational tools to streamline the commercial contracting process and assist with vendor management.

Prior to joining FordDirect in February as assistant general counsel, Hill was most recently senior counsel and privacy counsel for Chrysler Group where she provided legal support for operational groups such as connected vehicle, sales and marketing, information technology, dealer relations and vehicle brands.

Hill also provided assistance to Chrysler in negotiating business agreements and partnerships for advertising and marketing agencies, vehicle product placements, digital and interactive services and intellectual property licensing.

As Chrysler’s only privacy counsel, Hill provided legal advice and counsel on all aspects of privacy and data protection for the enterprise.

Prior to joining Chrysler in 2001, Hill was in private practice in Birmingham, Mich., where she was a corporate associate focusing on transactions in the technology and e-commerce areas.

“Beth’s pragmatic approach to contract management and legal affairs has been instrumental to FordDirect,” FordDirect chief executive officer Stacey Coopes said.

“Beth’s background and expertise in privacy and security issues specific to data and the connected vehicle is a valuable resource as FordDirect continues to look for new and innovative ways to help dealers market to consumers without breaching trust or privacy,” Coopes went on to say.
