Honda Honors Winner of Civic Song Facebook Contest

Turning to music and Facebook to generate some buzz for its 2012 Civic, Honda recently announced the winners of a recent promotion. Taking the “Sounds of Civic” honors was Jonatan Barahona, whose original Civic Hybrid-inspired tune was chosen over the submissions of seven other finalists.
The contest called for submissions via Facebook of original songs “inspired” by the five varieties of 2012 Civics (Sedan, Coupe, Si, HF or Hybrid). Fans could also vote on songs through Facebook, too.
The submissions were narrowed down to eight finalists, each of which received $2,500 in music gear from Sam Ash Music Store. Barahona was selected as the overall winner and received a 2012 Civic.
The freelance piano player also gets the chance to play his song during the 2011 Honda Civic Tour stop on Oct. 1 at Anaheim, Calif.’s Honda Center.
Sharing more about the song, officials noted it was also inspired by Barahona’s love for the environment.
“In the song, I wanted to bring to light Honda’s ability to change the world through reliability and environmental responsibility,” Barahona noted. “I believe that sustainable energy is something that we should be pursuing rather than digging ourselves deeper into dependence on fossil fuels,"
Barahona also emphasized to Honda fans: "Thank you so much for your votes and your support!"
American Honda Motor assistant vice president of publication relations Kurt Antonius added: “There were so many wonderful contributions to The Sounds of Civic, but his entry stood out on production, originality and best captured the spirit of the Honda Civic. Congratulations to Jonatan.”
