Honda Recalling More Than 750K SUVs and Minivans in US and Canada

Honda is recalling approximately 748,000 model-year 2009 through 2013 Pilot and 2011 through 2013 Odyssey vehicles in the United States and another 29,000 units in Canada.
The recall stems from the need to inspect and if necessary replace the driver’s side airbag. The OEM explained driver’s-side airbags in these vehicles potentially were assembled without some of the rivets that secure the airbag’s plastic cover.
If the rivets are missing, Honda said the airbag may not deploy properly, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
The automaker said no crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue in either the U.S. or Canada.
Honda said it is announcing this recall to encourage owners of all affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authorized franchised dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda.
Mailed notification to customers will begin in mid-February.
In addition to contacting customers by mail, owners of these vehicles in the U.S. will be able to determine if their vehicles require repair by going to www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (800) 999-1009, and selecting option No. 4.
For Canadian customers, owners can visit www.honda.ca/recalls or by contacting Honda Canada Customer Relations at (888) 946-6329.
