InspectMyRide Expands Verification Service to Older Vehicles

Dealers and consumers know the value of a thorough used-vehicle inspection, especially when buying online. Now, a division of DataScan Field Services expands inspections to include older-model cars.
Offered by InspectMyRide, a division of automotive inspection company DataScan Field Services, the new Basic Verification service can help buyers make a more informed decision.
While Basic Verification is available for all vehicle models and years, InspectMyRide officials noted the new service is particularly designed to address the niche of classic and antique cars in the online car-buying market.
By expanding the checkpoint, the company says it can help prevent fraud for a greater number of consumers.
“Since we first launched our consumer inspection services in August of 2010, we noticed there were a lot of buyers interested in inspections for cars older than 1985,” said Brent Sergot, president of InspectMyRide.
“No matter what model year it is, buying a vehicle is a big investment and we want to provide online shoppers with the resources to make a well-informed decision,” he said.
InspectMyRide’s signature Premium Vehicle Inspection service includes a 150-plus inspection point check, a test drive, a complete AutoCheck Vehicle History Report and a photo package including more than 20 photos.
The new Basic Verification service is a quicker, more streamlined review of vehicles by a professional automotive inspector, the company said.
Basic Verification includes a photo package including images of the odometer, Vehicle Identification Number, the car’s exterior and interior, and any observed damage.
Inspectors will also start the ignition and engage the transmission, and InspectMyRide will verify the VIN.
“One of the key benefits of the new Basic Verification is that it helps consumers avoid becoming a victim of fraud,” said Jim Wantz, director of field operations for InspectMyRide.
“We provide an important tool to help car buyers feel more confident with their purchase decision. Now we have the ability to do that for more consumers than ever before,” he said.
“With more than 38 million used vehicles sold last year, and over 70 percent of them offered online, InspectMyRide provides an increasingly vital service to help consumers make informed and reliable purchases while providing the ultimate convenience,” Sergot added.
